Attack on Titan (engl. “Attack on (the) Titan”; Japanese 進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin, German ‘ attacking giant’) is a manga series by Japanese mangaka Hajime Isayama, which was also adapted as an anime, as well as receiving several manga spin-offs and other adaptations. The work is classified in the genres of action, horror and fantasy and won the Kōdansha Manga Award in the Shōnen category in 2011. In the German-speaking world, the manga has been published since March 2014 and the anime since October 2016 under the title Attack on Titan.

The plot of Attack on Titan revolves around young Eren Jäger, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackermann, and his best friend Armin Arlert, who, along with the supposedly remaining remnant of humanity, live within medieval-looking towns and villages protected by huge walls from the attacks of the so-called Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures that devour humans for seemingly no reason. Only in the course of the story do the characters learn of the true origins of the Titans and the whereabouts of humanity behind the walls and shores of their island of Paradis .
