Fridolin Kiesewetter (French: Séraphin Lampion) is a penetrating representative of the insurance company “Weitblick” who appears from time to time. He talks incessantly, especially to Captain Archibald Haddock’s chagrin, and thinks himself irresistible; he likes to invite himself and his large family and is then difficult to get rid of.

With this character, Hergé took aim at the somewhat “bourgeois” compatriots of his time, his real audience: “Kiesewetter is a typical Belgian who still uses a brace with a belt” (Hergé).
