Faux Fur is messy to work with, but if you're prepared ahead of time, you can keep the mess at a minimum. Keep a lint roller and garbage bag nearby. Use a scrap of fleece to attract the fur and clean up as you go. Once you're finished cutting out your pattern pieces, shake out the fur to release all the little bits. We recommend using either scissors or a single-edge razor to cut your fur. Scissors or razors will cut only the backing of your faux fur, but a rotary cutter will cut your fur and leave you with an unsightly cropped look. Cut your pattern on the wrong side of the fur on a single layer, not folded. Try tracing the pattern piece on the back of the fur, it's easier than trying to pin down the fabric or work with weights. Before you begin to sew, lengthen the stitch on the sewing machine and baste your seams by hand to eliminate working with pins. Once you've completed each seam, flatten it open and use a needle or pin to pull out the hairs that are stuck in the stitching.
