The Map of the Rum Runner is magical document that reveals all the activities in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It shows all the people who are on the castle premises and their movements.

It reveals not only every classroom, hallway and corner of the castle, but also every inch of the grounds and all the secret passages that are within Hogwarts walls.

The card is also able to identify any person, regardless of whether they have transformed or are trying to disguise their presence. Spirits are also visible on it, but people located in the space of wishes are not.

It was written by Moony Remus Lupin, Wormtail Peter Pettigrew, Padfoot Sirius Black and Crown James Potter during their school years. By saying “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” (original: I solemnly swear that I am up to no good), you can open it, and by saying “Mischief managed” (original: Mischief managed), you can delete it.

The Weasley twins, Fred and George Weasley, stole it from the office of janitor Argus Filch during their first year by setting off a stink bomb during a “sentence.” They gave it to Harry in his third year because they thought he needed it more than they did.
